What is
Trauma-Informed Care?

Trauma-informed care recognises the impact of trauma on a person's life, relationships, sense of self and wellbeing.

Our approach is grounded in evidence-based trauma-informed care, recognising that trauma can shape the way we think, feel, relate to others, and respond to stress. Rather than asking "What's wrong with you?", a trauma-informed approach asks "What has happened to you?" and prioritises safety, trust, collaboration, choice, and empowerment throughout the therapeutic process. These principles are supported by contemporary trauma research.

The way we work is shaped by research into trauma, attachment and recovery, alongside the evidence-informed practice frameworks of the Blue Knot Foundation, Australia's National Centre of Excellence for Complex Trauma. These frameworks provide a strong foundation for delivering therapy that is responsive to those that have experienced trauma.

Larmoni Integrative Practice acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live and work. We pay our deep respects to Elders past and present, and honour the enduring connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to land, waters, culture, and community. We are grateful for the opportunity to practice on this land and recognise our ongoing responsibility to listen, learn, and walk with care.
